My current research focuses on the electrochemical oxidation of ethylene glycol and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) over model materials based on Co3O4. Our goal is to gain a deeper understanding of the reaction mechanisms, limiting steps, and the factors that determine the selectivity of these competing reaction channels. To this end, I apply density functional theory (DFT) calculations evaluated through the combination of free-energy diagrams and descriptor-based analysis.
My project is embedded in the Collaborative Research Center/ Transregio on “Heterogeneous Oxidation Catalysis in the Liquid Phase” (CRC/ TRR 247), funded by the German Research Foundation.
